Online energy plans – what are they?

Online energy plans are essentially the same as any other type of energy plan, the main difference being that with an online energy plan you’ll have to sign up online.

In spite of this, many energy suppliers will treat your online plan just like any other. For example they will still send you paper bills and communicate with you through the traditional methods.

Many online gas or electricity plans will also allow you to provide your meter readings online.

What are the advantages to online energy plans?

Lower costs
Because online energy plans are cheaper for your supplier, you will often find a huge amount of discounts being offered by electricity and gas suppliers for plans such as these.

They’re good for the environment
Online energy plans often offer paperless billing, this means you won’t have to continually file away all your past bills because they will all be stored online for you. This has the added benefit of being extremely beneficial to the environment.

Giving meter readings online
Being able to enter your meter reading online means that you will be able to save time and effort when taking readings. This means that your energy bills will be more accurate than they would be otherwise.

Does having an online energy plan mean that I’m getting the best deal?

The fact that you’re on an online energy plan means that you will be getting a good deal on your gas and electricity. But it doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re getting the best energy deal that’s available to you.

The best way to make sure that you’re getting a good deal on your energy rates is by comparing gas and electricity prices online. Our free and impartial energy comparison tool allows you to compare hundreds of deals from all of the energy suppliers in the UK. All we need is your postcode and your energy usage and we can show you all the deals that you could be saving money on.

There’s no reason not to run an energy comparison, it’s free and easy. It won’t take you more than a few minutes and you could be saving money on your gas and electricity bills.
