Tulo Energy is a small, independent UK energy supplier built around three principles: simplicity, affordability and honesty. It keeps things deliberately simple, with one main variable tariff, no exit fees, and UK-based customer service by phone, email and live chat.

Tulo Energy is the trading name of Square1 Energy Ltd, a licensed UK energy supplier that has supplied homes since 2019 and later rebranded as Tulo. It competes mainly on price, and you can leave at any time without a penalty.

One point to be clear on: Tulo does not sell renewable electricity. Its most recent fuel mix shows that almost all of its electricity comes from fossil fuels, mainly natural gas. If a green tariff is a priority for you, it is worth comparing against a supplier that specialises in renewable energy. As a small supplier, Tulo is also too small to feature in the Which? or Citizens Advice rankings, so there is less independent data on its service than for the bigger names.

Tulo’s main tariff. A standard variable tariff with no fixed term and no exit fees, so prices can go up or down and you can switch away whenever you like.
Fixed
No fixed tariffs were available as of late 2026. If you would prefer the certainty of a fixed price, you will need to look elsewhere for now.

Smart meters are supported. There are no specialist tariffs for electric vehicles or heat pumps, and no green tariff, so Tulo is best thought of as a simple, no-frills option rather than a feature-rich one.

Tulo Energy scores [X out of 5] on Trustpilot, based on [X reviews], with the large majority of reviewers giving five stars. Customers often mention competitive prices and helpful customer service, and Tulo says its average call waiting time is around 20 seconds, though there are no independent figures to check that against.

Its app is rated less well, although from only a handful of ratings. Because Tulo is too small to be ranked by Which? or Citizens Advice, Trustpilot is the main guide to its customer service, so it is worth reading recent reviews before you switch.

Tulo may suit you if you want a simple variable tariff with no exit fees, its prices come out well for your postcode, and you like the flexibility to leave at any time without a penalty. Its Trustpilot reviews are positive, and its UK-based support is a plus for anyone who prefers to pick up the phone.

Bear in mind that it is a small supplier with limited independent data on its service, it does not offer fixed, green or specialist tariffs, and its electricity is not renewable. If you want a fixed price, a green supply, or a tariff for an EV or heat pump, you will need to look elsewhere. As always, compare prices using your own postcode and usage before you switch.
