How do I get a new electricity connection to my home?

You can arrange a new connection to your home:

Click to switch: Click to compare energy suppliers
Energy

 A. Direct with your distributor

If you accept their quote, you will pay the distributor direct. You will also need to choose an electricity supplier, which will be the company you pay for the electricity you use once you are connected. If you don't choose a supplier at least a month in advance, the connection will not be finished and no meter will be installed -  so you won't be able to use any electricity. You may also find you will get a discount on the connection price if you can show you have signed a contract with a supplier.

Or

B. Through your chosen supplier

If you choose your electricity supplier you can ask them to arrange with the distributor for you to be connected. If you accept the quote, you will normally pay your supplier for the connection work. Your supplier may charge a handling fee.

Whether you choose A or B, the distributor will assess how much the connection will cost and give you a written quotation.
